First Year Design Studio, University of Sydney, Australia
Archaeological ruins penetrating the undulating surface of a stark landscape. For my first design studio, students were asked to create a design which evolved from a series of design exercises. I wanted to explore building within a landscape and how people would use the site. I designed an institutional hospital with long winding corridors. Later I burnt my model to create a set of ruins that sat down into the landscape. The final design project was to be a set of wires that were fixed to large poles on the site. The wires were anchored down to the ground in order to spatially bridge different areas of the site in its entirety.
